Dear TAKNET members,
We invite you to the new discussion topic on Research, innovation, knowledge transfer and Industrialization.
The FYDP II has targeted for economic transformation and economic development through industrialization in Tanzania. The Tanzania Vision 2025 also focuses on transforming the economy from a low-scale agricultural economy to a semi-industrial economy by 2025. As industrialization is directly related to technology this suggests that for Tanzania to become a semi-industrial economy improvement in research, innovation and knowledge transfer to the industrial technology is inevitable.
Research, innovation and technology transfer are keys to industrial development through technology. Therefore a keen emphasize on these three aspects are important for successful implementation and realization of the goals in the FYDP II and the Tanzania Development Vision 2025.
The objective of this is to stimulate discussion on how research can feed into practice and provide an opportunity to all development stakeholders, practitioners, and policymakers with the space to share and exchange ideas on how research can inform into practice and policy. Specifically, we invite everyone to reflect on the following topics:
• How can research, knowledge transfer and innovation support industrialization agenda?
• What should be done to commercialize innovation?
• How modernization and commercialization of primary production activities can support industrialization?
• What are the challenges in putting knowledge and innovations into practice?
